Community paramedicine is a new and evolving model of healthcare where paramedics provide onsite care to the homeless and higher risk individuals as a preventive means to reduce demand on emergency care facilities. Paramedics work together with doctors and social service providers. We are the first county in the State to implement this program.

The County recently canceled the contract to design, build, and operate a composting facility next to the existing landfill in Hilo. The reasons had nothing to do with the performance of the contractor. It had entirely to do with the financial terms of the contract. Bill will explain the results of the financial and legal analysis that led to the decision.
