Vocational Presentation

Kid's High-Tech Car Seats

Jeanna Rimmer, who is Marketing Director at Combi USA, gave a vocational presentation in which she outlined the intricacies of care seat safety, its development over time, and how, as usual, you get what you pay for.  Jeanna clearly has intriquing work.  We're glad she's part of RCHB.

Installation June 15
RCHB's  annual installation dinner and swearing in of new officers is Monday, June 15 at Nani Mau Gardens.
Dues
Kyle Kawano noted that invoices for dues have gone out.  If you didn't receive yours, ask him.
 Women in Rotary
Sharon Scheele presented a Women in Rotary pin to Deborah Beaver; other female members received the pins at other meetings. Four women were inducted into our Club this year, two are standing by for induction next month.

Mitch Dodo, visiting from RC of Hilo where he's been a member since 1999 (and a past prez),  gave $5 because he's happy for attending RCHB for the first time.

Dale Tokuuke, $100.50 for his neighbor who got hurt in the Oahu Marine plane crash. He broke is back, but with a lot of metal baraces and crews on his spine, he is now walking and can stay in the Marines.
 Member Awards

RCHB's Quiet Rotarian recognition was awarded this year to Kyle Kawano, our Club secretary, for his gracious counsel and support of the president and the Club. He continues as secretary next year. Kyle formerly served as attendance secretary. Mahalo, Kyle.

The Spirit recognition was awarded to Mike Carroll, who, from the moment he joined a year ago, pitched in fully—at the registration desk, throughout Oktoberfest, and then developing a worthy manual for coming years.
He will serve in 2015-16 attendance secretary.

Status of 2014-15 goals
Barbara A. Hastings
Here's an update on the three goals I announced at  the beginning of our Rotary year.
1. We successfully built out Oktoberfest in a larger venue, organized the process into a manual for subsequent years.
2. Enhanced our communication by:
        • Dipping a tiny bit further into social media.
        • Getting a few more acclimated to using the website
        • Built a separate Oktoberfest site, linked to our site.
3. Made an impact on homelessness through our work with HOPE Services.

Mahalo to each of your for your support and for a personally rewarding year.
Sharon Scheele gave $10 happy dollars for the nine RCHB memebers who served as mentors to our 10 new 2014-15 members. The mentors: Allen Novak, Alan Okinaka, Kevin Hopkins, Anita Cunningham, Tom Witthans, Art Tanigucyi, Preseton Barnes, Lorraine DAvis, Marie Bothof.

Sandy Sakaguchi, who was instrumental in the mentor program, matched Sharon's contribution.
