September 13, 2017
Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! Find out what we covered during the last weekly meeting, and what we learned from our speaker.

Reminder:  HRYF Give Aloha

Richard announced Foodland's Give Aloha campaign that began September 1 and ends September 30.  When you buy at Foodland, add a donation to HRYF when you checkout and Foodland contributes about 20% more to your donation-- for example, a $50 donation becomes $60.  To designate HRYF, the code is 77199; the cashier may have to look it up under Oahu charities.  Give a copy of your Foodland receipt to Richard for credit.

Dictionary Project

Dayday thanked those who participated and reminded those who signed up for next event:  Waiakea Elementary, September 5, 8:30am; Hilo Union, September 6, 12:10pm; Waiakeawaena, September 13, 10:00 and 11:00am; Ka 'Umeke Ka'eo, September 14, 9:00am.

Each member has been given 5 tickets (instead of the usual 6) to sell.  Award for the most tickets sold—dinner at Pete’s house with David donating all the steaks that Pete wants.
This Week's Speaker
Jay Curlee: A Personal Journey
Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.—Forrest Gump
Jay Curlee, one of our club's charter members, left Rotary several years ago to Texas.  He left uncharacteristically without explanation to his fellow members.  He was here today to explain.  And we are all better people because of Jay's willingness to share.
