From the meeting of March 19, 2025 President Steven convened the meeting at 7 am. Guests: Patrick Bodell, Jeanne Balberde Kamalii, and Tim Flynn. Announcements: - Richard Cunningham explained his goals for the HRYF and U of Hawaii Endowment scholarships.
- President Steven announced the dates for the D 5000 conference. They are 5/30-6/1. It will be held at the Ala Maona Hotel in Honolulu.
- Virginia Juettner announced donations requests from the three schools are exceeding the budgets and that she will accept donations. The deadline was approach to register for the D 5000 Foundation event. It will be on March 26th at the Women’s Center starting at 5:30 pm. This will be a fun event for the Rotary Foundation. The fee to cover pupus is $20.99, BYOB.
- James Tyrin stated that Oktoberfest is just six months away. The planning committee will be meeting soon and volunteers are welcome to attend,
Guest Speaker: Our guest speaker was Hilo Bay Rotarian Kathleen Rowden in the role of vocational speaker. Kathleen gave us a whirlwind tour of her life, her profession and her interests. She was a military brat who married a military husband and traveled the world as a military spouse and mother. You can summarize her professional life as a safety expert. Whether she is demonstrating her portable defibrillator or recounting her experiences after the Lahaina fire, working with disabled people to help identify them and their needs to emergency responders, participating in adaptive golf or working with veterans, she is a force of nature and still has time for her husband and children.
