Today's Inspiration and Quote

"We all need to be thankful for all we have, for our friends and our family, especially of the season approaching we become especially aware."
            - Marcia Sakai
Quote of the day:
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt"
             - Abraham Lincoln

We welcome! St. Joseph Junior Senior High School Principle Michael Pa'ekukui
Great to see Preston Barnes's son Kenneth Barnes!

Guest Speaker: Jason Fujimoto

Jason is the fifth generation leader of Hawaii Planing Mill, Ltd., more widely known as HPM Building Supply.  HPM was founded in 1921 by Kametaro Fujimoto and Sanzo Kawasaki as a local lumber milling operation.  Today,  HPM operates on every main island except for Maui.
HPM became 100% employee owned in 2006.  In addition to operating retail and professional hardware and building materials businesses, HPM manufactures roofing materials, trusses and other structural components critical to home building on Hawaii island while also providing design and drafting services to facilitate affordable home construction of both custom and "packaged" homes.
Jason spoke about the recently announced HalePlus offering which they plan to make available to the general public in the later half of 2020.  Part of the inspiration of HalePlus is the great need for affordable housing in Hawaii and the displacement and destruction of homes resulting from last year's eruption of Kilauea.
HalePlus is factory manufactured modular housing built locally.  Building under the controlled conditions of a factory reduces labor, material costs and time, these savings are passed to the home owner.  Because the homes are modular, there is flexibility in design and future additions or modifications.  These are not "mobile" homes, but their design does allow for easy relocation in the event of an emergency.  The homes would be assembled in a local factory (Kea'au) by local workers.  For more information on HalePlus and HPM, please go to:
