District Grant Application -- Lorraine Davis

The Board of Directors received two District Grant applications; one from the YWCA Developmental Preschool and the other from the Friends of the Children's Justice Center.  The Board of Directors determined that the District Grant would go to the YWCA Developmental Preschool, but felt that the Friends project was worthy enough to solicit funds from members to fund their project.  To date:  $600 has been committed by RCHB members.  Anyone wishing to contribute should write their check to the Friends of the Children's Justice Center and drop it off/or mail to Dale Tokuuke.  He will also be at the club social if you want to bring a check with you.

Additional Announcements:
Marlene N. announced that she is in a group that is looking for places to volunteer.  If you have a volunteer need, please contact her via email.

Guest Speaker

Guest Speaker Alan Okinaka, Club Classifications

Today Alan Okinaka discussed Rotary Club Classifications. The Classification of RCHB members was begun by Preston in 1987 and “somehow” it has become Alan’s task. There are 372 Classifications on the Rotary Website and they can be used to determine what resources and skills are in the club and available for projects. Alan reminded us that the Classification on your Rotary Badge is your Occupation or area of interest but not necessarily your job. Also, he believes it is a good idea to update the areas of Classification and use them to determine what resources we would like to bring into the club. Alan suggested that in the future the club could start a list of avocations and hobbies to add more skills. He discussed the current make-up of RCHB and had some suggestions for Classifications we currently don’t have represented in the club. The discussion can be seen on the YouTube video linked below.
