Weinberg Project

Sign up at our next meeting or on the website:

  • Date:  February 25, 2017 (Saturday)
  • Time:  8:00 a.m. to 12 noon
  • Place:  YWCA, 143 Ululani Street
  • Tasks:  Some of the work activities will include but limited to washing of window screens and jalousies; painting of the kitchen/closet areas; painting of safety stripes on stairs and parking lot areas; pressure washing of sidewalks; and mowing lawn and weeding of landscaped areas.

Rotaract Car Wash @ NAPA Hilo, Feb 11 & 25 (both are Saturdays, 9 am - 2 pm) - fundraiser so please have your cars washed!
 

Relay for Life @ UHH, Mar 10-11 (6 PM on Mar 10 to 6 AM on Mar 11) - burgers on sale by Rotaractors as fundraiser. Separate donations to American Cancer Society are welcome.

 

Rotary Foundation Goals
Alan O. reported that our club has met the polio plus goals.  For contributions to the Rotary Foundation, one-third of our members have contributed to date.

Co-owner of the Grand Naniloa, Ed Bushor, had never been to Hilo.  He has since fallen in love with Hilo as a place more authentic than anywhere he has been.  His business plans are predicated on this heart for this place.

Natural Farming 101
A once boring and lifeless median in downtown Hilo now thrives with the fruits of the natural farming method.  Drake Weinert, a farmer and teacher, explained how natural farming creates an environment favorable to promote beneficial fungus and microbes. The microbes create the fertility.
