Guest Speaker
Guest Speaker Virginia Juettner, August 19, 2020
Today’s Vocational Speaker, Virginia Juettner, discussed her career in Education. Early in her career Virginia realized the power of books to teach children big ideas such as peace, conflict resolution, cultural diversity, and friendship. As a teacher she learned the importance of engagement versus discipline and as a Principal she learned the importance of engaging communities. Virginia joined Gateway Rotary in Alaska in 2000 when she retired for the first time. The next year Bob became a Rotarian as well. A few years later they moved to Arizona where she and Bob joined Valle Verde Rotary. Virginia chaired 2 district conferences in Arizona; one of them designed to build awareness about Rotary’s Six Areas of Focus. She was pulled to Rotary through her vocation and her interests.

Alan Okinaka - ($10) Happy he had the first sighting of a kolea in his yard, he is winning the war with weeds in his yard and he finally was able to get a haircut.
Mary Begier - ($5) concerned. She shared that with COVID-19, mortgage companies have extended their time frame to closing to 45 days and it has put a different twist on how real estate transactions are progressing. It is a logistical nightmare.
