Today's Inspiration
“'Thank you' is a miraculous expression. We feel good when we say it, and we feel good when we hear it. When we speak or hear the word 'thank you', the armor falls from our hearts and we can communicate on the deepest level."

Guest Speaker
Guest Speaker May 19 2021 Jessica Histo, Hawaii Diaper Project
Wednesday’s Guest Speaker was Jessica Histo of the Hawaii Diaper Project. In 2016, when her son outgrew his diapers, Jessica began searching for a place to donate the extra diapers. That was when she realized there was nowhere on Hawaii Island to donate them. She organized a diaper drive and donated them to a women’s shelter, Tutu & Me, and the Pregnancy Center in Kona. After organizing another diaper drive the following year Jessica was approached by a woman from LA who wanted to partner with her and they became Hawaii’s First Diaper Bank in 2018. One in 3 families suffer from not having enough diapers for their children and the Diaper Bank has grown from serving 30 Keiki a month to over 300. They have also collaborated with community partners who can assist with other needs the families may have as well as distributing the diapers. The Keiki they serve range in age from 0-5. They have Makana Packs for the children who are no longer in diapers but still have needs. The drive in March brought in over $5,000 which helps them to purchase diapers at a discounted rate. The diapers provided are meant as a supplement to the supply the parents are purchasing. There are drop off locations all around the Island and they are always looking for more locations.
