Honors

Our president-elect, Dale Tokuuke is one of the folks being honored May 5, Friday, at a dinner fundraiser of the Friends of Children’s Justice Center.

Many of you know that RCHB has in the past supported the mission of the Friends; the center does such good work in such a sad environment for children who are way too young to be confronted such realities.  You may also know that Jill Jacunski, Steve’s spouse, is long-time treasurer of the Friends.  Let's go for a sponsorship table of $650, which will allow us  to have RCHB recognized in the program and give us 8 dinner seats. That’s $81.25 each You can round up to $82!  See Barbara.

Brewfest

The chair for the Rotary Club of Hilo's brewfest is James' wife.  The only way to get VIP tickets this year is by corporate sponsorship starting at $250.

BICAPSA: Protecting Women from Sexual Abuse
Rape victims need trained physicians and nurses to timely and effectively gather evidence, as well as tend to the physical and emotional trauma of the victim.  In 1995, a rape victim waited over five hours in the emergency room for a trained doctor.  She left in frustration, abandoning any chance to prosecute.  Terri Lum, Director, explained how the Big Island Coalition Against Physical and Sexual Assault (BICAPSA) formed after that incident vowing to provide 24-hour service for rape victims.  BICAPSA was the worthy recipient of our Club's Weinberg Foundation grant this year.
