District Conference 2022 -- will be held May 20-22, 2022 at the Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa.  Early registration is open now -- $365 pays for your registration and meal package.

District Conference 2023

  • Will be held in Hilo.  The committee is looking for volunteers to help with the planning and a co-chair from East Hawaii.

BOD Meeting

  • YWCA Preschool: Birthday Book Program
    • Members donated $700.00 to start
    • BOD approved $1000.00 grant.
    • Looking for Volunteers for December 17, 2021 at 7:00am for Book Distribution at YWCA Preschool. (5 individuals)
    • Need help with putting in book plates.

  • Club Scholarship Program
    • Targeting Hawaii Community College
    • December is scheduled to begin advertising. 
  • Monday, November 29, 2021 was boxing at Food Basket 
    • 560 boxes-- 16 pallets of food was boxed.
  • December 8th Happy Dollars for Food Basket.
    • $100.00 register, will have scholarship.
    • will be looking for volunteers to drive out pizza to participants. 
  • Rotary International Survey. PETS is in person in Feb. District.
  • Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset has CEO of Train Project. Mike will send out to club.
  • Kona Mauka Hosting Christmas dinner on Saturday at 5.-D'Andera P. will be performing.
  • Christmas Party- Sun. Dec. 5, 2021 4pm-7pm
    • Food and Drinks, Local Music, Painting Demonstrations.
  • Hawaii Diaper Bank: $745.00 collected
    • plus, some were made directly from Amazon.

Guest Speaker December 1 2021 Benson Media

Benson Medina is a member the Rotary Club of South Hilo.  He has been club president twice and now has assumed the position of District 5000 Trainer.  His 40-plus year career includes senior executive positions in manufacturing, tourism and electrical maintenance contracting.  He is a Senior Investment partner with Sustainability Partners, providing infrastructure capital to state and county governments.  Besides Rotary, Benson also serves as the Vice-President of the Hawaii Island Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce and is active in many community organizations and service projects that serve east Hawaii Island communities.  He is also an active member of Halau O Kawananakoa of Keaukaha and competes each year in Kupuna Hula Festival in Kona.

Benson talked to our Rotarians about Leadership.
