Guest Speaker
Guest Speaker Sharon Scheele, Membership Month, August 5, 2020
August is Membership Month and today’s Guest Speaker was Sharon Scheele. Sharon discussed what is involved and how long it takes to become a member of a Rotary Club. Handouts were included in the email with the meeting notice and they provide the timeline of the application and nomination process which takes approximately 5-6 weeks. The Prospect must attend 3 meetings; in addition to our Wednesday Meeting they may also attend a project, social, etc. and those will count toward the 3 meetings. During Orientation they are told about annual financial obligations, opportunities to make up missed meetings and much more. The Orientation is not just for Prospects, any Member can attend and get a refresher.
Sharon has been our Membership Chair for a while and this year Membership is being Co-Chaired by Dawn Pung and Irene Nagao. Everyone should consider themselves part of the Membership Committee. There are many classifications that are not represented in the Club. Think about the people you associate with or work with and see if they would be a good Prospect.
