Volunteer opportunity  - Continuing through January, 2021  -- Junichi Noumaru

State Department of Health and UH Nursing request Rotarians to help for the face mask observation.
One or a pair of volunteers will count the number of people who (a) wear the mask correctly, (b) wear the mask in correctly and (c) don't wear the mask at a designated location from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays:
  • Prince Kuhio Plaza (Zippy's)
  • Airport Post Office
  • Target/Walmart/Safeway
  • Hilo Farmers Market
Since Saturday morning is a favorite time slot for webinars/meetings by D5000, the host is considering to widen the time frame in the Saturday afternoon.

Richard Cunningham - HRYF

Richard explained that HRYF is for scholarships for students and for every $50 raised, the donor receives a chance at winning an incentive that Richard plans to build.  He did a poll on whether we want a box or a mirror.  Survey says:  Box.  There will be another survey on the type of wood used.  So stay tuned.

DOH Volunteer COVID Vaccine Opportunity -- Sharon Scheele

Sharon has volunteered for three different shifts and urges fellow Rotarians to volunteer with this project.  There are three people plus supervisors in a partitioned area of Aunty Sally's that work to schedule vaccine appointments for the 75 years and above Big Islanders.  She reported that there are safety and health precautions taken very seriously and she felt safe in going on site to help with the project.

RYLA -- Tim Hansen

Tim acknowledged folks who have volunteered or provided items for RYLA participants and on Thursday, he and Geoli will be putting the kits together for distribution.  RYLA has also opened up for 9th and 12th graders, so applicants are still being accepted.
