Dr. Kevin Hopkins became the 29th President of the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay in July 2016.  He is an internationally-known scientist who has managed aquaculture and fisheries development projects throughout the world for more than 40 years.  Both he and his wife, Margarita, teach at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

The induction ceremony, held on the afternoon of July 9th at the UH-Hilo Pana‘ewa Farm Pavilion, was a fun-filled feast.  Kevin's family worked hard to prepare a whole pig cooked on the premises over a fire pit, fried tilapia from Kevin's ponds, pancit specially made by Margarita, and a variety of other dishes.  UH-Hilo professors, Dr. Lorna Tsutsumi and Dr. Norman Arancon, led farm tours of the bee and orchard programs, respectively.  Multi-talented professor Norman then entertained the crowd with a repertoire of Broadway, oldies, and popular songs.  DG Assistant, Alan Kusunoki, formally inducted Kevin and the slate of officers, directors, and chairpersons.  As his first order of business, Kevin welcomed and inducted new member, Curtis Sharp.
