Announcements, Director / Committee Chair report

  • Rice re-bagging project - We are waiting for the order by the Food Basket regarding the next re-bagging day. If the Governor lifts the ban of social gathering, etc., Hilo Daijingu Social Hall may need to be vacated by May 31, at earliest.
  • Polio Plus
Please click this banner below or on our webpage: https://hilobayrotary.org Alan mentioned that we should make sure to donate money to PolioPlus so that the money is used to tackle with COVID-19 and polio. If you make a donation to disaster response, your money may end up to something other than polio although you will get recognition points.
  • James Tyrin is planning the online social in May, that will be announced later.

If your announcement is a complicated one, I would suggest you share the information with the members in the text. Make slides or send your announcement to rchb_members@googlegroups.com.

Other items

Interact: The challenges to sponsor Interact clubs are (1) We need to find a club advisor and a school advisor. (2) The club advisor will need to be committed to participate in the Interact activity every week. Some schools prefer to have a single club advisor instead of multiple advisors in rotation. Now is the time to reach out to the schools to reinstate the Interact Club. In the past, our club sponsored Interact clubs at Keaau High and St. Joseph School. Tom Witthans, Youth Services Chair, David DeLuz Jr. and Miyuki Lee said that they will work on the matter. Thank you.

Guest speakers: Junichi Noumaru suggests to provide an opportunity for the new members to talk. David DeLuz, Jr. and Art Taniguchi made a suggestion for the guest speakers. The Program Committee Chair David DeLuz, Jr. and the Vocational Program Chair Lorraine Davis will arrange the guest speakers. If you want to talk, please contact David or Lorraine.

Next Meeting

  • Wednesday, May 20 from 7 a.m.
  • Speaker: Julie Mitchell, Executive Director of Ku'ikahi Mediation Center (Tentative)
