Subject: 21,000 Pieces of New Clothing to Support our Communities!

Yes, 21,000 pieces of new clothing to go out to support our Hawaii Island communities!

Yesterday, Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island, along with our HGEA friends, West Hawaii supporters, DOE Homeless Concerns liaisons, and Rotary Club of Hilo Bay volunteers convened to unbox, remove store tags, and sort the over 21,000 pieces of new clothing that Old Navy recently gifted to BGCBI.

The donated clothing will soon be packaged and transported by Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island into communities throughout Hawaii Island and given out to children, kupuna, homeless families, and struggling family households that have been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

All clothing offered, like our community support meals, and mobile youth outreach services will be provided free-of-charge.

During this pandemic, Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island remains committed in our efforts to bring key supplemental resources and family support assistance that communities are in need of.

As part of our "Mobile Youth Outreach" implementation, we will continue to drive direct into our rural area communities to provide our M-F hot meals, educational resources for youth (i.e. homework assistance, "at-home" school supplies, academic tutoring, distance learning technology), and now clothing resources to those that are going without.

Thank you to Old Navy for the generous donation and thank you to everyone that continues to support the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island!

If you know of any child or family that are in need of clothing or food please let me know.

    Aloha,
    Chad

Keep your happy dollar donation in an envelope and bring it to the next in-person meeting. You may contact Deborah Beaver to make a payment with your credit card or mail your check to the club. Thank you.

In addition, you may now pay from our new online payment system: https://checkout.square.site/pay/f12444a0473348a5b24ff79bc663be77

Tom W. is $28 happy for 28 years of happy marriage.  His words of wisdom:  Mary -- Never go to bed angry.  Tom - As you wish.

Alan O. is $10 happy.  $5 for Richard and Mary reporting that they have seen returning Kolea and $5 for great voter turnout.

Mary B. is $10 happy and wants to echo Alan's sentiments about voter turnout.

Virginia and Bob are $10 happy for seeing Ruth Sanchez join the meeting.

Tim H. is $5 happy.  His brother-in-law had a knee replacement and all went well.

Marlene N. is $5 happy.  Her son, who is fighting fires will be returning home to his family.

Art T. had $5 announcement.  Aloha Monday is donating part of their proceeds to support the Ed Hara's family who lost their son in an accident.  Aloha Monday is doing this through the end of the month.

Doug A is $10 happy for the project we did at the Boys and Girls Club.

Geoli N. is $10 happy to be at the meeting.

Barbara H. is $5 happy, but wonders if Alan had mixed her and Mary up -- apparently a common occurrence in the community.  Alan confirmed he should have acknowledged that it was Barbara who saw the Kolea and told Mary that since he had given her credit, she needs to look for one, too.

Thank you folks, for your generosity and humor!
